unfortunately, we live in a world where people hate others for what they eat. If I so much as mention my Vegetarianism at school, I get plenty of people who try to change me. *sighs* and people think we're annoying...
Well **** him. you can chose what u want to be, don't let that bring u down :3
Meat is delicious. But it's up to you what you eat OP
More bacon for the rest of us :)
Wouldn't this be a **** his life? I mean why would you care what your dad thinks if you're happily a vegetarian. Unless something tragic happened and your mum is telling you this in light of what happened. That's funny then. Otherwise I'm confused.
Okay sorry I'll try to elaborate on my earlier statement. Basically I was saying why should OP care. And the only reason why I would see this being a true fml would be if her father passed away and they had a bad relationship due to the fact she was a vegetarian so the mom went ahead and told her children "I know you never understood why your father never seemed to appreciate you but when you guys were born he said he never wanted a vegetarian." And not being able to reconcile after finding out would make me feel really upset. It's like pinpointing the problem but knowing you'll never be able to make amends. Then FML all day. I take back my previous statement indicating the possibility of a tragic scenario being funny. But the way I imagined it made her mothers statement sound lighthearted. Like "oh your dad always loved you he just hated vegetarians." Anyways I hope that clears things up. My apologies.
In her father's judgmental mind he doesn't have his ideal child. So I pictured a post like. "All my life I have dreaded the thought of having a vegetarian daughter. God decided to give me two. FML."
it's an FML because her dad is an inconsiderate idiot who thinks there's something wrong with the diet that she now follows
Lol what's so wrong about being a vegetarian?
Vegetarians have an unfair reputation for being holier than thou douchebags.
Yep, it's the reputation for attempting to force everyone around them, especially family to bend to their nutritional whims. It's not all, or likely even most, but they're sitting enough that they're the ones everyone remembers. I have a vegan friend that won't use my dishes or silverware, much less easy anything I've cooked because my kitchen ware has touched meat at some point. Needless to say, she doesn't get many social invitations.
I would be so happy if one of my family turned out a veg. More meat for me!!
This makes me want to go to fogo de chao. All you can eat meat Brazilian steakhouse style.
Did you know that "vegetarian" is a Cherokee word? It means "bad hunter."
At least you aren't a vegan! Then he really wouldn't be happy. Honestly though, that sucks and he should get his priorities in order.
37, all vegans are vegetarians, but not all vegetarians are vegans. Vegan is a much more restrictive diet. Some vegetarians will eat food that comes from animals, such as dairy and eggs, but vegans won't. I think vegans also won't eat anything that's processed, or made a certain way. I'm not vegan or vegetarian myself, so I'm unclear on the specifics of each, but that is basically the difference.
It's one thing to be a vegan/vegetarian, it's another to push your views on everyone else. That's the reason why vegans have a bad reputation, it's for being pushy. I have three vegetarians in my immediate family. Their choices make me cranky when it comes time to cook for them (most dishes I make benefit from meat drippings or stock) but at least we can still eat together.
45- it has nothing to do with stuff being processed, it's about not using animals in any way, for anything. So nothing made with any type of animal products, and nothing that was tested on animals. No wool or silk or leather, no milk, eggs, honey, or gelatin, no soaps, shampoos, makeup or hair products that were tested on animals or made with fish scales or something. Etc. And then it obviously depends on how strict you are about it. (And for the record, I am not vegan, despite my username. So please don't hate me :P)
- Vegetarian is someone who won't eat meat, for ethical or health reasons. - Strict vegetarian (AKA me) is someone who won't eat meat or seafood, but will eat eggs, dairy, etc. - Vegan is someone who refuses to eat any food related to animals: meat, seafood, eggs, milk, chocolate, etc. There are then variations on veganism, where some will accept to eat dairy but not eggs, for example. By the way it's no harder to cook for vegetarians than for picky meat-eaters, as I said before I'm vegetarian and I eat more different foods than quite a few of my friends, so that argument is invalid. And for the people who say that vegetarians are wrong to be "self-rightuous" and refuse to eat meat, well... noone complains that muslims refuse to eat pork due to their beliefs, so why should vegetarians be put down and undermined?
Dads can really be jerks when they want to be :(

I'm sure he still loves you anyway. You're definitely missing out though, meat is wonderful!
Wow. I'm glad your dad has his prioroties straight. Edit: sorry, 1's comment wasn't there when I posted mine.
