Today, my mother told me that the carbon-monoxide alarm went off last night, but since she didn't smell any gas, she decided to just remove the batteries and go back to bed. I had to explain to her that you can't smell carbon monoxide, and that we could have died in our sleep. FML

Your mom clearly knew you couldn't smell it, but was just looking for a way to end your life while she made her get away in the emergancy ecsape pod that she secretly had installed into her closet several years ago.

probably wouldn't of died because you would have woken up because of survival instincts... also chances of you entire house being filled with carbon monoxide is very unlikely

@pwnstar_qc (#95), they would not have woken up. CO replaces O2 in your blood (as in, instead of your body actually getting oxygen, it's getting carbon monoxide), and your body doesn't notice it, which is exactly why it's dangerous. And they you die for lack of oxygen. Lots of people die every year because of that, in closed garages mostly.

Wow, that's actually scary... You're very lucky you're alive. And FYL for having a slow mom. Sorry man.

Whoa. Scary! Even more scary that your mom didn't know that! D:

so if your smoke alarms go off does she just take the batteries out if the fire is in the other room and she doesn't see it?
