Today, my mother was talking about a holiday she went on this time last year. She turned to me to say, "You would've loved it, it's a shame you couldn't come". I was there. It was just the two of us on holiday together. FML

There is a possibility she did some things with out you that were fun...but still if you have photos of you two on the trip then she'll be taking her words back...

I work in the medical field - please encourage your mother to see her doctor right away! Alzheimer's is a possibility, as is a stroke.

Maybe she thought you were someone else? How old is your mom? She may not know that shes talking to you, or she may not know that the person she took on the trip was you.

my mom is in her seventies and forgets things sometimes, doctor says she might get Alzheimers later on...maybe yours is the same, please check with your doctor
