Today, my neighbors got a motion sensor light that points at my window. It's so sensitive that it goes off every time an insect flies past. FML

That wasn't an insect. It was a ninja.

Get some curtains or move your bed so the light doesn't bother you.

Get yourself a pellet gun and shoot out the light. I did that to my neighbors light and after four broken light bulbs they took down the light.

I like how most of the comments are telling OP to break the light. The neighbors most likely don't know it's pointing straight into the dude's/chick's window. It's simple: go over and tell them it's pointing straight into your room and if they aren't assholes they will adjust it. However if they ARE assholes, go ahead and break it. =)

Just ask them nicely while holding a baseball bat that you subtly swing every so often

I feel your pain. I am going through the exact thing.

I once put one in my driveway. It'd reflect off of something outside into a neighbor's bathroom window. From there, off of the mirror into their room. I didn't know until they said something. Sad part is it took them 3 months to come to me. A slight readjustment and it didn't bother them. Worth saying something politely to them. I will admit I laughed at the impressiveness of the beam reflection before I told them I'd adjust it.

Three words: thick black curtains. :)

I have endured this same situation for 10 years. For ten years I have been shooting out the light with a BB gun and for 10 years they keep replacing the bulb. I'll never give up!!!

I do the same thing to my neighbors. But I live in shady part of town. Sucks to be you!

Call by-law. No reason a light should point at your window and not the side of THEIR house.

It's illegal to point lights into people's windows. Tell them that that is your bedroom and you would appreciate them aiming the lights away from your place. If they don't comply call your local non emergency police number and file an official complaint at least once a week until something is done.
