Today, my now ex-boyfriend told me that I was the one. Not at this moment though, he wants to see how far he can go with his best female friend. But once he's done with her, we can be together. FML

I have seen very desperate girls agree to these type of conditions. Like if they're extremely emotionally dependent on him, or if they're pregnant and he's the child's father, or whatever. It's pretty sad. Stupid too. He probably figured it was worth a try...the dumbass. Good on OP for not putting up with it.

I've thought that as well but most people, I think, are just trying to be supportive. It's the same as saying, "I'm sorry for your loss" when you hear someone has had a loved one die. It's annoying at times, but it's well intended.

Yes that is true but i am just saying when someone posts an fml its only one side of the story. (just as an example) in this fml op could be sleeping with her best guy friend so her boyfriend said that as a reply i don't think that happened here but we don't know and in that case op doesn't deserve better.

I think if she were that awful, he wouldn't want to get back together with her whether or not it worked out with the other girl. Unless he said that in order to manipulate her into dumping him so he wouldn't have to do it, but that's a stretch.

Never believe it when someone tells you that you're The One. It's usually right before they have second thoughts and dump you lol The phrase itself means less than nothing. Only time and trust can make it true, and by the time it becomes true it doesn't need to be said. As for you, OP, I'm glad to see that you didn't tolerate being someone's last resort :)

I'm guessing that's why he wanted to take a break - because his friend said she's not sleeping with a guy behind his gf's back. Otherwise he'd just have cheated OP with his friend.So he'd just tell her that they broke up for good.

That's even sadder for her, because it means she only wanted to sleep with him if it was a real relationship (and not her as the side chick)...but in truth he's gone and screwed them both over. I'd definitely tell the girl if I were OP. If she already knew, then yeah they deserve each other. But if not, the sooner she knows the less painful it'll be. Of course she might not believe her, but then that's her own problem.
