Today, my now ex-girlfriend posted on Facebook that I called her a "fucking bitch". Our mutual friends were all outraged, and demanded that I treat her with respect. What she failed to mention was that I said it after finding out that she's been sleeping with my "best friend" for the past year. FML

I find it absurdly stupid when people say treat her with respect because A. she's a girl and B. you used to know her. She did a real scummy thing, you have the right to treat her how she treated you, like shit.

I agree. I am very respectful of girls, WHEN THEY ACT RESPECTABLE. Most girls I'm very kind and polite too and don't say bad things about, but if a human who is coincidentally born with female genitalia and breasts is going to do such a terrible thing, they do not deserve any respect. It's also pathetic that their mutual friends just believed her 1. without hearing his side, and 2. without question shortly after a breakup as if there haven't been countless times where after a breakup one or both parties is talking trash or even telling flat out lies about the other.

Bitch is so over-used though. It's lost its power. OP: Explain your actions and if your "friends" still think your a douche, well, you don't need them in your life. The world will work itself out and she'll hopefully realize what she did after she finds someone she cares about only to be treated like shit.
