That happened to me all the time at my old house it was so stupid all I wanted to do was read my book and all they wanted to do was watch stupid TV shows

Were you reading alone in your room while the rest of the family was watching TV together? Because I can see the point then, even if it isn't really a reason to get upset. "Stop hiding in your room and come join the family" is something I've heard a lot of growing up. Bringing my book and sitting there reading was never acceptable either, so either I just dealt with being called anti-social or said "let's have family reading instead of TV" or something. Finding books the whole family enjoys might be a challenge.

my mom used to do this to me to..and now im in college working on my bachelors and looking into applying for medical school. and i still love reading.

wow in all fairness I prefer books especially now a days with the garbage tv has you're lucky to even find something good

Then my entire family is anti-social.... When we meet up for the holidays there is a lot of time spent just sitting in the same room reading our own things...
