Today, my parents, who are divorced, were arguing over who has to pay for my bus pass. They decided they wouldn't pay unless the other one did too. Neither will pay the £60 it'll cost for my bus pass. I now have to walk to school every day, in freezing winter weather. It's 9 miles. Each way. FML

wow your parents suck..poor you! :( and that sucks that you have to walk 18 miles everyday...in cold weather :( FYL

1) It's snowing some places, so "winter weather" is not an unreasonable thing to say. 2) £60 is over 100 USD. Not necessarily that easy to come by, especially if... 3) OP may be a young kid with limited options. 4) Your parents totally suck. You could buy a pretty cheap bike and ride to school. And if you don't have the money, shovel snow (if there's snow) or do some silly jobs until you can afford a cheap solution.

It sounds to me like you shouldn't have to obey anything they tell you. Why should you listen to 2 people who care more about what someone else does than take care of their responsibility? They sound like children to me, and last time I checked, you don't have to obey to the whims of little bickering children. No pass ---> No chores, favors, errands, etc.

@27 No, they use miles. Not every country in Europe uses kilometres. Don't make points on subjects you know nothing about.

If those cheap ***** cannot flip some change for a bus pass do what donkey_hang_down suggested. "Drop out, join a gang, kill your parents!"

And it's uphill, both ways! Walking is great exercise and you will get lots of time to think and meditate. And you won't become some out-of-shape fattie that all of the boys hate. Good on you, mum and pop!

Ah yes, good on those parents for making a kid walk for over 2 hours both ways.... Yep their education won't be affected by how tired that kid is at all nope.

why can't they just split the damn £60 fee 50/50? it took each of their reproductive organs to create you so why wouldn't they go 50/50 with other things? your parents priorities are ****** up.

Refuse to go to school until they pay for it. .. bad idea?

instead of blaming and being angry, take control of your situation... offer to pay 1/3 of the bus pass and get a job by offering to do chores or something.

Harden up kid, when I was your age I had to walk 33 miles to school in blinding blizzards, with no shoes and my family was to poor to afford a jacket so I had to cover myself in leaves and if I didn't walk fast enough and was late I would be whipped and put in solitary confinement.

You were lucky to have leaves, we had to wrap ourselves in grass

HAHAHA my bad to laugh at you ### 52 but like.... your lil story sounds so funny when i picture it in my head, covered with leafs lmfao....

"when i war a lad i had to live in a shoebox!" "if only we 'ad a shoebox! i had to live in a lake" "you were lucky to have a lake!" Monty Python FTW :D

lmao! monty python. legendary! "I'm Brian!"

"No, I'm Brian!" "I'm Brian and so is my wife!"

Solitary confinement is a type of prison.

Um.. no. She said each way. 9+9=18 miles.

In home country we walk 14 miles to school, barefoot, in the snow, uphill both ways, no jacket, and we did NOT complain! That's what you sound like. Those people that always tell stories of how ridiculously great kids these days have it. I call fake on this one.
