ok for all those ppl telling her to buy it herself, or to get a job, or that this is fake or whatever.... I am 15 years old. I don't get any pocket money, at all. If I ever get money it's about 20 Australian dollars at Christmas (from my grandma who I hardly ever see), or maybe for my birthday (and that's still a maybe). Now I'm not one to complain; if I ever need money for something, my dad usually gives it to me. But basically, I don't really have my *own* money, I worked a bit last year but then we moved and with family problems and the like (my parents just separated too) things are a bit ... (er, I mean A LOT) ... complicated right now and I have too many things to focus on so a job will have to wait. Being able to relate to the OP, I can understand if the emotional stress of the problems she is going through is getting rather overwhelming, and now her parents are too busy acting like sulky children that they're neglecting their responsibilities. I think the main FML here is that her parents care more about fighting each other than her. Now this may sound fake, but I know how my mum's like and if the OP's parents are anything like my mum... I can imagine two irrational, bitter parents - and this scenario is very, VERY plausible. Seeing as this issue happened 'today', and her parents fought over it and came to this immature conclusion... I'm guessing they probably don't REALLY mean it - they just got angry. (I'm just guessing, here). They might calm down tomorrow and whichever one is taking care of her surely will not make her walk the 18 miles each day just to defend his/her pride. Otherwise, that is just child abuse. But the fact that they did say this, is enough to make one feel really hurt and left out. They are her parents, after all.
OLO - that was a poignant and well-written post. When parents go through their own tough times, it's the degree to which they can revert to childish behaviors is astonishing. Things can be tough now - I'm sorry to hear about your parents' separation - but you've got a good head on your shoulders and will do just fine, without a doubt. Also, FYI - I've proofread the papers of college students who do not write half as well as you do. Way to go!
*blushes* I feel honoured you say so about my writing XD I could never degrade myself to start typing lyk dis all da tym :P as a matter of fact, your support means a lot to me seeing as exams are coming up.. and they're scary!! lol good thing is my mum starting to cooling down... I think... she seems as though she's not as bitter as she was before. I'm still a bit hesitant and nervous around her though >.> I keep worrying she'll just explode at any minute... smoke coming out of her ears and worsening our situation of global warming.... *keeps fingers crossed*
fake, if it was real it wouldn't say miles it would say kilometers because they are from the UK.
eh no we don't, we use miles, Europe may use kilometers but in the UK its miles.
sighhh, divorce. such a sad but freeing word. sorry u had to go through that! it shouldnt affect children this way. sorry :(
fake. sorry. dont believe it. 18 miles a day. no way.
well you clearly don't know the UK then... ever thought they live in the country? it can easily be double that in the rural parts of england. My friend lived on a farm and had to travel worse.
Ummm Wow 60 pounds Is NOT cheap I dunno maybe ride share if theres any other kids your age out there...
it depends on how long it lasts.. my train ticket lasts a year and it costed me about $115 (aus) for it, which is about 70 pounds, it also depends on how long.. my train trip each day goes for about 45mins. so yeahh.
Walking is good exercise
first of all, Americans invented celcius, and the metric system. we just use englsnds backward ass measurement standards as a running joke. you should be greatfull that we even let you use it, or our Internet for that matter. also, if she lived in a subterranean compound built in to a hill it could be uphill both ways. can't believe someone already used the Kelvin joke though, I was really looking forward to making that one myself.
Are you an idiot? Celcius created by the U.S.? Then why the hell doesn't this country use C like the rest of the world? Dumbass.
I heard Americans invented democracy and freedom as well. +rep for thinking you stand above all other countries
First of all please try to spell our countrys name correctly if your going critisise it. Secondly you don't use celsius, you use farenheit, get an education before claiming stupid things, how can anyone not know which temeratere they use? It's rediculous. Thirdly "letting us use" "your" internet and "your" system is not something you have control over, you do not have complete control over the world so stop acting like an arrogant **** and saying you do. And lastly we founded and built your country prick, your lucky "we let you use our land".
WELL SAID
229 obviously doesnt know that it is not england's land anymore, because America won the revolutionary war, i agree that we didn't create the metric system and that everyone should be able to use "our internet" but why do you people hate americans so much?

wow your parents suck..poor you! :( and that sucks that you have to walk 18 miles everyday...in cold weather :( FYL
1) It's snowing some places, so "winter weather" is not an unreasonable thing to say. 2) £60 is over 100 USD. Not necessarily that easy to come by, especially if... 3) OP may be a young kid with limited options. 4) Your parents totally suck. You could buy a pretty cheap bike and ride to school. And if you don't have the money, shovel snow (if there's snow) or do some silly jobs until you can afford a cheap solution.
