Today, my power finally came back on. I excitedly went and spent $100 to refill my fridge, only to come back home and discover the power is out again, and might not be back on for another three days. FML

Going to answer major questions here: I'm a college kid. I live alone and have a small fridge. I shop at Walmart with coupons and that's how I managed to fill my fridge on $100. I have AEP and the power was on for a bit before it went back off (not enough time for the fridge to get cold again) so I assumed I was okay. Apparently it was a "test run" I borrowed coolers from family and got some ice. I just moved here a few weeks ago and haven't met many new people so I'm stuck at my house. Thank you for the well wishes and crossing my fingers that it's back sooner than anticipated!

Sorry, im from ohio(currently living in Hawaii were bf is stationed) and all my family and friends are having a hard time. my aunt didnt have power for a week when the aep guys were driving down the road and saw the tree damage and told them they had no clue they didnt have power. I remember the ice storm a few years back and having to stay in a small place with all the fam.

Gotta love AEP haha... The power at my workplace was out for a few days as well. SO MUCH FUN.

Why you don't have electric power for six days?

Here (in the Netherlands) the power wires are underground... maybe they should consider doing that.

Well with that many people out of power because of the storms, you should have known to wait to make sure it was going to stay on.

Just hang in there. It's not like you have any power over it.

Get to a store that sells dry ice and buy about 20lbs of it, unpackage it, and evenly distribute it throughout. It shold hold you for 3 days. 3 things 1. It's a Duh, but a lot of people forget, use potholders/ovenmitts when handling dry ice. 2. Severely limit how much/how often you open your fridge, keep that cold in as long as possible. 3. When you do open your fridge, remember it is now filled with CO2, watch inhaling around it, yo could get a lungful of pure CO2 and pass out.

i've heard if the power goes out in the city you can get a refund on spoiled food from town hall
