Today, my sister found out she contracted ringworm and scabies from her best friend's rescued kittens. The entire family now has to be treated to prevent it from spreading. There are 7 people in our house and none of us have health insurance. FML

having had scabies myself, i can say with all honesty that it isn't expensive at all. the ointments and treatments they give are the same as the over the counter anti-itch steroid creams. just leave it be and take any antibiotics they Rx. Also you can wash EVERYTHING in hot water to kill the buggers. Just don't scratch and it'll heal with the over the counter stuff and a few showers.

Dogs and cats are infected by different types of mites than those which infect humans. Animals are not a source of spread of human scabies. Scabies on dogs is called mange. When canine or feline mites land on human skin, they fail to thrive and produce only a mild itch that goes away on its own. This is unlike human scabies which gets worse and worse unless the condition is treated.

So i'm assuming that none of you go to any kind of school, and aren't working any kind of job, save for minimum wage. This is the inly way I can concieve of someone not having health insurance. YDI.

Might be time to invest in some..

This is why Britain has it right with the NHS.

You might be able to get the cat owner to pay for some of the costs, depending on her level of responsibility based on her actions leading up to her sick pet making humans sick.

Ringworm isn't a big deal, though. I had it once as a child (from playing on a 'dirty' patch of ground supposedly) and all I had to do was go to the drugstore for an ointment to put on it and then cover with a band-aide. Pretty sure the doctor's visit to diagnose it was more expensive than the ointment. Idk about scab, though.
