Are you serious? Gah I would smack him! Not only was a very sentimental thing from your great grandfather but it had a very nice money worth. Also to #92, deep down, everyone cares about money. Its like someone gave you $100 bucks and then took it out of your hands and ripped it up. Just because. He could be caring about how old it was but saying that it had a nice sum meaning it was in very good condition and the age was nice.

How old is your son? Reading half of these FMLs he could be 18 or close to it and still be that stupid. Either way, if it was that important and valuablel, you should have kept it out of reach of anyone that might bring harm to it, such as a curious child (they get into everything; I don't even have kids and I know this). I do wonder though, yes it had monetary value, but were you planning to sell it? Or just keep it as a keepsake? Because if it's the latter, it would have stopped anyway, wouldn't it? I doubt you could get a battery for a watch that old. Just wondering.
