Today, my ten-year-old sister had to write out my job application because no one can read my terrible handwriting. FML

Well I'm not sure your perfectly legible application filled out in crayon will do you much better.

25 - That is true for some people but it's certainly not true of ALL messy writers OR smart people.

Ever heard of a typewriter? It's the new way of doing things!

Man, I hate it when I laugh at thumbed down comments.

Say what I say, "I don't have bad handwriting, you have bad reading"

Mt handwriting is atrocious. I print everything in capitals just so it is legible.

Don't worry op, you are an example of superior human evolution in action. Cursive, handwriting, whatever you want to refer to it as is becoming a dead skill. Typing is superior in every possible way, with the possible exception of presentation (not a worry for you obviously). The only times I, or anyone I know, need to grab a pen is to jot down a quick note, and that's only because as handy as technology is becoming, a postit note and a pen is faster than an iPad and the digital notepad. Time will fix that. Purists, and arguably those of an older generation may harp on about it being a classic skill or something that everyone should know. The fact is its becoming a relic, an example of archaic communication. Modern day cave paintings, if you will.

#49 > Thanks for the good laugh. That was (hopefully) a good piece of sarcasm. OP, it's a skill you can work on. I had a terrible writing and practiced to improve it. Now it's quite acceptable, at least most people can read me.

Alan, You really need to convince someone to allow thumbs up on staff comments. +100

Trust your lil brother, he's an engineer.

I have a similar problem and often employ my younger sisters help. My hand cramps badly the slower I write, so I try to practice writing regularly. Practice as often as you can and don't let too much time go between practices. I find writing down lyrics to my favourite songs or book passages to be the most enjoyable practise.
