Today, my twelve year-old son thought it would be a good idea to relentlessly shoot the mail truck with a paintball gun in front of all the neighbors. FML

NYmets456 tells us more.

Just so you know, everything has worked out fine. The mailman was pretty nice about it. He had to wash off the back of the truck, and pay a little money to help fix it.

Shouldn't his parent discipline him? Oh wait........ YOU'RE the parent!

If your son hasn't already been informed, maybe now would be a good time to let him know... On August 2, 1968, assault on a mail carrier became a federal crime in the United States. I hope your mailman has a sense of humor or your son could be in big trouble. We were all stupid kids once. Use this opportunity to help scare him smart! Good luck!!!

Who needs a dog to scare the mail man ? When you have your son and his paintball gun.

1) OP didn't buy him a gun. 2) His/Her son took the paintball gun without permission from his cousin (aka stole a paintball gun from his cousins.) 3) The kid shot a truck with a stolen paint ball gun. Lots of problems here and they all have to do with not teaching a child how to act right. YDI for not teaching him that stealing is wrong.

As I've written before, how would you know whether or not OP taught him right from wrong or not? Believe it or not, there is such a thing as a kid acting out regardless of how hard a parent might try to raise his or her kid right.

How do I know? He shot a mail truck with a stolen paintball gun. That's how I know.

So you're basically saying that it's completely impossible for a kid to actually disobey his/her parent and act out despite a parent trying his/her best at teaching said kid right from wrong?

Misbehaving is one thing; pointing a gun and firing is another. Guns are not your typical toy and shooting something you shouldn't isn't your typical misbehavior. All kids that are near guns should be taught gun safety and proper handling. I am sticking to my guns, pun intended. This is bad parenting.

And for that you're a bad parent. I hope you took away his gun, and never give him another again. He is twelve...he doesn't need a gun, and from the sounds of it: a gun of any sort...

I hope there's some major punishments involved for this young man. Like massive longterm grounding at the very least.

tough luck. what happened in the end?

Not as bad as what my dad had to go through. When I was little I broke into my neighbors house on Christmas and stole a bunch of their gifts. I said I had found them. It didn't work>.
