I was traumatized as a kid (not from war, of course) and have had PTSD for nine years. It's a terrible, terrible disorder. When you have a flashback, it's like you've literally been transported back to the trauma. When you finally snap back into reality, you've lost time and perhaps have left the location where you were when the flashback started. That's what scares me the most, because it's like blacking out and I have NO control over what I do during a flashback. Thankfully I've never hurt anyone. OP, I hope your uncle is getting help. Therapy + medication works well for PTSD.

cut your uncle some slack, he fought in the war for everyone. he can't help it is he has a flashback. your lucky that's all that happened instead of something worse!

Some would say, be more respectful, but fyl for losing a tooth and a cracked rib. At least you shouldn't necessarily be like "oh I lost a tooth, and cracked a rib. It hurt like hell, but i'm okay with it because he was in a war." I understand where your coming from. Your not blaming your uncle, just saying- "this is what happened. fml"

I'd feel more sorry for the old man, that war was rough, well any war in general. do you think flashing back to that kind of memories was the highlight of his day
