Today, on my holiday in Thailand I was using the ATM to withdraw $500 worth of Baht. While doing this the ATM crashed and decided to restart. After 5 minutes it spat my card out and nothing else. When I returned to the hotel to use the Wifi, the ATM had deducted the money from my account. FML

Talk with the bank you have an account with. I'm sure they would be able to do something. If not then FYL, OP.

Get onto the atm provider explain the situation, They can find out if the money was withdrawn or not.

the atm provider will know if money spat out but if the atm was at a bank call the location

Contact your bank. They can investigate and get you your money back. A good bank will have it back in your account within a few business days. The majority of ATM owners will just tell you to call your financial institution. I hope you have other funds to use in the meantime. Good luck.

it's gone and it'll never be seen again ok? word of advice don't use atm machines in foreign regions.

I used to work in customer service for a bank. The Thailand part might be tricky, but otherwise this is the easiest kind of transaction to dispute. Definitely call your bank.

$500 will have you living like a king for months in Thailand. 3 course dinner and drinks for $15 or less in most places

"Aye carumba", "D'oh", and "Don't have a cow man" are the first things that come to mind.

I had a similar scenario except it was in my home country Canada and it just copied my pin number. I got my money back in less than a week and because of that I only use atm's from actual known banking institutions like CIBC, Scotia, BMO, etc.

And that's why you never use ATMs in a city called Phuket

Phuket indeed. If your bank can't help, maybe travel insurance can?

After reading the first two sentences, I thought this was going to be a poem
