Today, I withdrew $120 from the ATM at the hotel I'm staying at, only to have no money come out. When I talked to the concierge, who witnessed the whole thing, she said it had been happening all day and that the machine was broken. My bank says it's the hotel's problem, and the hotel says it's the bank's problem. Either way, I'm out $120. FML

OK, this has never happened to me, but that's completely unacceptable. You don't have the money, they're not out of the money, there should be no problem refunding it.. I wouldn't give up on this one.

First, THEY SHOULD'VE UNPLUGGED IT AND PUT UP A BIG SIGN SAYING OUT OF ORDER!!! WHY DIDN'T THEY?!?!?!? Second, it's definitely the hotel's problem. They should reimburse. If not, get them to talk to the bank. Let them sort it out with each other for you.

Presumably you owe the hotel more than $120 for the bill. Guess what? Their problem.

it's the problem of the bank of the atm u used. ur bank probably wont refund the money.. but the bank that owns the broken atm will if u write them. lol @ #8 tho haha and what terrible customer service at the hotel... not our problem?? and others are right. they should have put a sign up. good luck!

ohh noo! 120 $. Now your going to have to live on the streets!! Chill out at least it wasnt alot of money

No matter what else you do, never do business with that hotel again-- it's a fiscal black hole. Since the employee did not warn the patrons, it seems almost as if it was planned. See what you can do, if anything, to recover your money. In the meantime, switch banks. I don't know how much money #10 makes, but hopefully s/he will send me some: $120 is two weeks worth of groceries for me. For you less practical people: that buys two new video games.

For console gamers, at least. Us PC gamers can get 12 games for that.

Maybe indie games but there is no way you could get Fallout 4 (AAA title) for less than $15 in the next 10 years

Yes. Because the bank doesn't have enough money for good lawyers.

At least it wasn't a lot of money... Why didn't the concierge stop you before you used the atm? wtf?

That IS a lot of money. You must be rich and think nothing of $120, but not everyone has that luxury. Next time think before you post something.

The $3.78 I have to my name currently says it's a lot of money.

Dude i would sue the hotel and your bank. Its the hotels fault for not posting it and if it had been happening all day and they didnt do anything?! And its your banks fault since you never got the money they basicly stole 120 bucks from you

I work for an atm company. What you have to do is call the number on the back of your card and file a transaction dispute; give them the sequence number and the name of the business where you used the ATM. Your financial institution contacts the ATM company. They have 5-10 business days to dispute it. If they don't the money gets ACH'ed back into your account. If they do the receipt they provide from the ATM itself should prove you didn't get your money. Your money is not lost.
