Today, one of the comic companies I submitted to, replied back. They said that the story was boring, and the main character bland, generic, uncultured, had no potential for personal growth, a suburbanite, and an ignorant shut-in. I based the personality of the main character on my own. FML

To be honest, the comic company is probably pretty accurate in its assessment.

the truth hurts, sweety. next, base a comic on someone with a more exciting life, like bugs bunny, for example.

I'm pretty sure he said he based the characters personality off his. Not copy and pasted it. If you're a good enough writer, you can even make the copy-paste good. Using Stephanie Meyer is useless. She just simply SUCKS at writing, doesn't matter what she puts down. Anyways, keep trying OP. You're gonna get rejected more than once. Just take it as ... Constructive criticism and try to improve, good luck.

This reminds me of a publisher who received a heavy manuscript in the mail, an autobiography written by a retired civil servant. The publisher politely indicated that it was too boring to publish as a novel. The aspiring novelist replied indignantly: "But my life WAS boring!"

That's probably why. As a writer myself, I know that making up characters is better than basing them on yourself or anyone you know. You can expand on them better.

That sort of industry is very difficult to cut. They are all bastards dude. They will tell you exactly how it is no matter how harsh. I'm an illustrator and you get nice clients who praise the hell out of you or you get dragons.

Be thankful you got feedback from a company you thought highly enough of to submit your work to!

Maybe that should tell you something about yourself.
