Where I study having that GPA means you are stupid...
Wait...so at your school having between a B and an A average means you're stupid? So ...nobody ever gets anything less than a perfect A for everything unless they're stupid? Sounds like your school is seriously inflating grades, then. An A is supposed to be for excellent work.
as someone from the same country, i gotta say that is right! 3.6 is the lowest you can get if you want to get the good courses!
At the end of the day nobody cares about stupid school awards. GPA is all that matters, so you will be ok.
If there is an assumption that everyone will get one - then they are mostly meaningless crap . Only highest achievement award or Who's Who award will count for anything. College only cares about GPA and class ranking. Your GPA is good. But not outstanding so why do you expect an award based on that? Was that the highest in your class? Were you the highest ranked in any of your classes? Anyone that matters knows how hard you worked and how smart , stupid, or average you are and that's all that matters. Life is brutal. Life isn't fair and it really doesn't give a shit about your feelings. You have to grow up and recognize what's really important from the fluff. Be proud of yourself and move on.
Who cares? As long as you know the truth
Yeah, that's how I'm feeling about it. I got a few awards when I graduated high school, but they mean **** all now that I'm older. Your accomplisments in university are so much more important, OP. Don't put so much stock on high school.
Rewards are for smart kids. 3.66 out of 4.0 isn't really all that impressive in high school.
You're in college, so you'd better learn something from this. Like not giving a damn what other people think. Grow through adversity.
On an application your GPA will matter way more than some school given awards.
Just interested: Is it normal in the USA to get awards if your grades are good? I am from Germany and had the best Abitur ( advanced school-leaving certificate?) of my city and just got a handshake from my principal "Well done!":D How nice getting recognized with awards instead! OP, I am sorry you didn't get one although deserving one! At least you have a great GPA! Congatulations
A lot of schools have ceremonies at the end of high school where students are officially awarded scholarships and other academic-related accomplishments. At least where I'm from. We have a few different ceremonies for the graduating students.
Thank you for explaining! Sounds really nice
Oh...Then I am glad we didn't have it THAT way. The speech was given by the "pupil's school president" (I have no idea how to translate this).I would have been a bad choice because I was neither as cool or witty. Who knows, if it's a new thing it might be swapping over here, too.
I wouldn't say it's THAT new. I graduated high school nine years ago and my brother graduated fourteen and we both had ceremonies like this.

Your teachers should have coordinated that better tbh
don't let others get to you. you know you have good grades and do well, that's all that should matter. If you do start to get annoyed, show them your report card, then that should clear everything up!
