So enlighten us OP, your flat screen (which you presumably weren't selling) was out at the yard sale why? I have to say you kinda deserved that one.
yard sale- in a yard. garage sale- in a garage. Perhaps the tv was in the garage but not for sale. or was for sale the bastard kid covered the price sticker.
how do you know the tv had a free sticker on it? This doesn't make any sense.
why does everybody think she either didnt see the tv leave or the tv wasnt meant to be sold? here is how i interpreted what happend step 1. op puts tv out for XXX price step 2.(possibility) customer to his son in their car "son go put this sign on that tv" step 3 customer sees the "free tv" and claims it, starts loading it to his car step 4 OP sees this happen, confronts customer step 5 customer says "there was a free sign on it" then acts beligerent when OP tries to explain she didn't set it for free step 6 customer declares "IM TAKING THIS TV" step 7 OP gets okay face and says FML and comes and writes this story for FML.com because she doesn't want to stand up to customer thats how i saw things happening the first time i read this story if this is true, OP you should call the police and report the customer for theft, and possibly fraud even if my scenario isn't correct, its still more plausible than a customer going into OP's home to take a tv, or OP not noticing him leaving with the TV and only hearing about what happend after he was gone
You could have simply stopped the person who took it. You're not a business so it's not like they can get you for false advertising.
You didn't have to let that person have it just because it said free. Retail is different in the "wild". I wouldn't have let that person have my tv just because some douche put free on it. Do you know who put free on it? Sue them.
sucks.

Then don't put it out there
Wouldn't you have seen the TV being taken?
