Zivc tells us more.
OP here :) Had to make an account to say - thank you! Talked to my mother and it seems she also has her nerve pinched at the elbow so I guess I inherited it. Unfortunately, looking at my chosen field :P And I've already spent 3 years studying, I am definetly NOT giving up now just because of some stupid uncooperative arm. Also because university here is free, but only if you finish it on the first try. You get one extra year if you want to change fields or fail a year or whatever, but that's it. Everything else you have to pay. Unfortunately I already spent my extra year due to unrelated medical reasons. Oh well...

Is it an ulnar nerve inflammation? I've got the same thing - I work as a translator and draw in my spare time. When I went to the doctor, she told me to take a 5-minute break after every 15 minutes of typing from now on, cut my work time drastically and casually said I'd probably need surgery too, with 4-6 months rehabilitation and a chance of significant (and permanent) nerve damage that I found way too high. She also prescribed anti-inflammatory medicine that completely screwed up my biorhythm, left me permanently exhausted but unable to sleep, and didn't do much to help. Because I really didn't want the surgery, as a last resort I visited an osteopath a couple of times and started using a standing desk and ergonomic keyboard. Now the nerve only acts up if I spend hours working intensively while seated - switch desk to standing and the pain goes away. Long story short: if medicine doesn't work, other methods (like changing your posture drastically) might help.
omg university is free?! That's amazing! Also, cos I went on your profile to see which country is providing free education...I noticed that we share the same birthday! LOL
Praying for you
