That's actually a good thing. He made a huge mistake, and you now have much more of his information, which would help the police arrest him earlier. By the way, how do you know that this is the very same guy who tried to mug you? Do you remember his face that well? It's quite impossible with me, but then again, people do seem to recognize me quite easily, so I'm not entirely doubtful.
