I had a similar situation: i bought my sister a gift a month ago that she really wanted but was way too expensive for her to get. Just a few days ago, my sister came home from the shops with that exact gift.... that my dad..(which i had several times discussed what i had gotten her) had bought for her. I can't even return the gift because the return duration has "expired".... -_-

Have you ever thought of returning it? Even if you dont have a receipt you can probably still get a gift card from that store.
