Today, while moving into my new place, I saw my new, elderly neighbor sitting on her porch. I cheerfully greeted her with, "Hello, how are you?" She simply rocked slowly in her chair and replied, "Just waiting to die." She was the most cheerful person I met all day. FML

I don't think it's getting any better... And I can't believe I forgot to sign into my account when I submitted this.

Go back tomorrow and talk to her, cheer her up and ask her about her life. It's always interesting to listen to elderly people talk about how the world used to be.

It's all fun and games until you find yourself in an argument with yourself on the internet...

Your neighbor is a realist. How refreshing.

that's better than she wanting to commit suicide

There should be an LOL button here.. Not just for this, but some of these are not YDI's or YLS's, but more like LOL's :P

Well at least you made FML before she died.. She can now take that off your bucket list.

Looking at the OP's profile, she's actually gotten a story up before this too.

Betty White's 'Off Their Rockers' , perhaps?

I admire an elderly who doesn't fear death.

I don't admire overly cheerful people who act like there's nothing wrong with the world apart from people who are not as overly cheerful as them.

There's nothing wrong with trying to be at least a bit cheerful when interacting with other people. If you don't feel it, you don't feel it, but OP was trying to be nice, at least.

Is the name of your apartment complex Sunny Acres or something?
