Today, while on my run, I was attacked by my neighbor's new dog. It apparently didn't like me running past their house and broke free from its chain. I now have stitches and was just told that I'm probably being taken to court for the emotional distress I caused her and the dog. FML

Take pictures of your injury now, in case this goes to court after you've healed. As long as you have a good lawyer, you shouldn't lose. Still, FYL for the hassle and lawyer fees :

if you haven't gone to court yet, that's called strict liability and is considered a tort. you would win that court case easily.

It has been proven time and time again that tethered dogs are more likely to behave inappropriately. The majority of dog bites occur that way. In your case it sounds like the dog is lacking training but above all, he's in desperate need of socialization. Stupid people should be held responsible for neglecting their pets - don't worry, OP, you won't be the one paying the court fees.

WTF? counter sue those *******!

u take their asses to court YOU have the case the dog ****** attacked YOU and YOU r the one who has stitches

this idiotic woman has no grounds for legal action. If anyone has grounds to sue, it would be you. You weren't trespassing on her property and she failed to properly restrain her dog, causing personal injury to you. If the **** wants to try and bring you to court, so be it. You have a winning counterclaim, she will lose.

if it makes you feel better, even the most incompetent lawyer could get that thrown out

the judge won't buy that bullsht the lady will be shoving down his throat.

You take her to god damn court! She will loose the dog! If a pet seriously hurts you, and it aint yours, the pet will be put down. So take your god damn neighbor to court!

And while shes at court say "Emotional distress??!! What the **** do you think my emotions where doing when her dog tried to rip my leg off!"
