Today, whilst sat next to a old lady on a flight back to the UK, I exclaimed how I wished somebody would gag the crying baby a few rows behind us. Her reply was, "That's my grandson." FML

I feel for you, OP. I usually love kids, but if I hear another one screaming uncontrollably on the bus or at work, I am going to kill something. even worse because 90% of the time, parents don't even try to tell them off. some don't even glance down at the kid as it screams loud enough to shatter glass. e_o

I hate fuss kids. Shows bad parenting you got to start from there young to discpline that shit. If i had a son he would know hey here is your toy or your bottle keep quite. You know when there so ******* annoying when parents bring there noisy as kid to the movie theatre. I mean damn its like 9 a clock at night put your loud ass kid to sleep wtf is he doing here.

It's not bad parenting when the child is an infant whose only means of communication is crying. And it's not bad parenting if the baby has infantile colic.

Many people think their kids are soooo cute and precious, we ALL will be happy to deal with them. They let them run wild and expect everyone else to 'babysit'.

I'm surprised anyone would talk about gagging a crying child out loud. Why not say that you wish someone would comfort the crying baby? Clearly, YDI for being insensitive :). The OP's disregard for human respect is evident they way he/she says "old lady" and talks about gagging a crying child. It's sickening, really.

No, FYL for being an an aircraft with idiots who think it is appropriate to bring a baby. Most children that young who are on an aircraft can not be comforted because they are crying because their ears hurt because THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO EQUALIZE THE PRESSURE AND NO ONE CAN TEACH THEM. You want to talk abut disregarding human respect? Guess what bringing your baby on an aircraft is to the rest of the passengers, asshole.

How do you know they didn't just adopt the baby, and it was her new grandson? How would you expect a person to bring an adopted baby over seas without using an airplane? Or how do you know they weren't going to the baby's mother/father's funeral? You don't know. You were out of line to call me an asshole. I was in no way disrespecting you, so please show me the same courtesy. Thanks.

The thing is, EvilDave doesn't know why the baby was on board, and neither do the rest of us, so it's pointless to try to figure out why it was there in the first place. Who cares? The main idea here is that there was a baby screaming his head off on the plane and it was bothering the OP (and many others).

The Onley reason i cried on the airplane when i was younger was becus' i'd burst my eardrum :L x

I find it HILARIOUS that the only people bothered by this FML are PARENTS!! How about DON'T FLY with a baby? Who hauls their baby on a plane knowing its ears may hurt or burst??!!! Way to go parents!!

Some parents don't have a choice. Like those who are in the Military. If you were able to have kids and your Hubs was in Germany or Japan for 2-3years, wouldn't you want to be there with him? Think about it.

I'm not a parent, but this FML bothered me. Hell, I'm not even a kid person. But OP could've easily avoided the situation by keeping her big mouth shut and realizing that the world doesn't revolve around her. You don't talk shit about gagging other people's kids and not expect to get flack for it. It's not always an option to bring little kids on planes. I mean what are they supposed to do? Drive across the ocean? If you hate it so much, put on your headphones and turn the music up loud. It always works for me. In the mean time, maybe you should figure out how to get some consideration for other people instead of pissing and moaning over your little inconveniences that are easily resolvable to begin with.

So what if it's her grandson? Gagging the little brat would still be an entirely appropriate response.

You're response should have been "Then go gag your grandson."

104- I'm a parent n wasn't upset about this post. some kids are annoying but to say some of the dumb shit u just said bothers me. first off that was rare that his eardrum popped if it was a huge issue they would warn parents about it before the flights. 2nd-would u rather a child be stuck to a car seat for hours on a roadtrip compared to a short flight somewhere.. it happens.. get over it.

Yes, I WOULD rather they be in a car! Do you enjoy putting babies in situations that hurt their ears? Do you even REMEMBER what the crying babies were like BEFORE you were a parent? Doesn't matter...there'll always be crying babies on planes, even if it sucks.

I'm also not 'DUMB'. I'm going blind, but NOT DUMB. Why did you find it necessary to throw DUMB in there? Shows a lot of class!!
