I agree you shouldn't be on Facebook at work but he should've fired you in a more professional manner and your friends shouldn't have liked it. You deserved part of it. I'd probably feel worse if this was your last and/or only chance at a career or a living or whatever but there are other jobs and I'm betting you won't be on Facebook during work hours any more unless it's part of your job or you know for a fact that your boss is cool with it.
