Unlucky for some

Today, I went to a big family dinner. I didn't realize I hadn't been invited until we were about to sit down to eat. There were 12 chairs, 12 plates, 12 forks, and 12 glasses. I was the 13th person to arrive. FML

I don't get it! If the host didn't invite you, you weren't invited! I know I grew up in a different era but, geez! Have things changed that much? Even if another family member told you/invited you, you're not really welcome unless the host/hostess invites you! A good etiquette lesson for you, OP!

This is what I would have said "Oh, I see that I'm not family. Well **** THE LOT OF YOU THEN". I would have left, slammed the door behind me and then ignored any of the 'family' that tried to contact me afterwards. If they cared, it would make them feel really bad.
