Today, I went to a big family dinner. I didn't realize I hadn't been invited until we were about to sit down to eat. There were 12 chairs, 12 plates, 12 forks, and 12 glasses. I was the 13th person to arrive. FML

This is the type of thing that really annoys me about family. They usually assume because they are related to you they can do as they like. I have a brother-in-law who comes over to my home with his friends thinking they can use my TV to watch sports and are horrified when my husband kicks them out/won't let them in. They did this the weekend I was hosting a party for my friend's daughter (we have a pool). They then thought they could just devour the cake before it was served. We have sense told them they are forbidden from coming to our home at all and the police were called the last time they did come over.

Not if they keep showing up uninvited and refuse to leave. What are she and her husband supposed to do? Physically force them to leave? That could escalate into something dangerous quickly. It's a lot easier and safer to have the police come and scare them away. I'm guessing they weren't actually arrested if they agreed to leave once the police arrived.

your bro and his friends shouldn't assume that just because you're related to one of them that that means that they can come over whenever they like. You have to call, and respect the persons home regardless. And crashing that party was very childish and disrespectful.
