He can't just let it go to waste
O, the hypocrisy!!!! He got high while you are grounded! A good lesson for how the world works, though.
Semi-sucks. If you study the effects of weed on brain chemistry, however, you'll find out that a developing brain suffers a much more severe impact from weed. Especially the ability to transfer information from short term to long term memory. This hinders your learning abilities and also reduces your development of healthy coping mechanisms, psychologically speaking. After all, why learn to solve problems in your life, when you can just get high and forget about them? I do, however, agree that grounding you, confiscating the stash and then smoking it himself, sends the wrong signal. I hope you'll learn from his example and become a better man. In the end, I hope all parents wish for their children to become better than themselves. Good luck, OP!
I agree! Your brain continually develops until your early to mid 20's. I'd say try to steer clear of any bad habit, or do it when you're more of a legal age in moderation. It would be the same if I had caught my early-teen son drinking/smoking and grounded him, then I drank/smoked it later that night. It's more likely your age rather than it being weed.
"Blah blah blah your dad's a prick." No, he's an adult. If he wants to make the decision to smoke weed, that's his choice. Same thing goes if he caught you with alcohol, I'm sure he'd drink that too. Not to assume you're necessarily under 18/21, but if you aren't, you can always get your own place and do as you please.
I read that wrong. I thought it said that he had grounded it for you so you could smoke it. But then he decided to keep it to himself and smoke it.
what it means when people say "he's an adult" actually means that his life cannot be changed easily anymore. he can't go back to school and study bioengineering instead and become and industry leader in CRSPR research. he's going to work at that factory until he's 65 and can't work anymore, then hope for disability and live off that until the end. best case, automation doesn't replace him earlier and you guys move out into a government housing. you still have your whole life ahead of you. if you decide to study something real, you have the potential to live a life that has many, many less worries. for example, a programmer would be needed anywhere in the world. you could live in any culture and be financially secure. by the time you get old enough to realize that your retail job is a complete dead end, there will be nothing you can do about it - all you'll be able to do is to tell your son not to smoke weed and try to give him a better chance at life. on the other hand, if you're bad at school with or without weed, then you may as well smoke weed. you ain't goan nowhere anyway, may as well enjoy the high.

The difference being, he's not at the age where he can be grounded. Even softcore drugs aren't for kids dude
