What did you expect?

By parasheeeet - This FML is from back in 2016 but it's good stuff - United States - Birmingham

Today, after months of trying to train my cockatiel to perch on my finger, he finally trusted me enough to fly from his cage and land on my hand. I panicked and accidentally backhanded him across the room. FML

I'm not an expert, but I don't think that's how you play angry birds...

Awe your poor bird. I hope that doesn't ruin his trust.

This reminds me of that video of the news anchor who was holding a rooster on his arm and it started to freak out. He got scared and ran away with his arms in the air.

The closer they get, the spookier they get. Giant talons, wicked sharp beak, and that flipping noise!! Omg run for your lives!!

"Giant talons" and "wicked sharp beak"? I don't think you've ever seen a cockatiel before.

Oh god I feel so bad for laughing so hard. That poor bird just wanted to show you he can do it and gets smacked across the room. I truly hope this incident didn't kill his trust with you or hurt him too terribly. Good luck op and maybe be a little more open to a bird landing on you. Hope your birdy is okay

I had a cockateil too, once they start trusting you they will never leave your side. I used to work with my bird perched on my shoulder, and he used to sleep by my side too.

OP it'll be ok! If it happened unexpectedly and it truly was the first time I understand being frightened. This is especially true if you were working on some other task at the same time. I'm sure your bird will learn to trust you again. Don't give up!

Poor bird! Seriously though, I hope he's okay.
