What is wrong with you?

By HouseWife - 21/05/2014 02:24 - United States - Valley Park

Today, I had to take my daughter home from school because she had been caught flashing the boys during class. I tried to explain to her that it wasn't an appropriate way to act or behave but she interrupted me, "Mom, you don't even understand." You're right. I don't. FML

Back in my day we used to raise our hand to get the teachers attention my how things have changed

OP's daughter was flashing the boys, not the teacher. We hope...

16 she obviously flashed the teacher. How else was she caught?

Have you ever heard of adult supervision?

"But mom! I'm just trying to be more like Miley!"

Sigh. I was going to laugh until I realized this is probably true, even if you meant it as a joke.

don't judge so quickly pal. The kid may be a little child, and if a teenager, you might be right. but teenagers do a ton of stupid things..

it not always the parents fault . my step mother raise all 4 of her kids the same way, and only two ended up being good .

With so many other influences on a child in this day and age, including tv, unavoidable internet, and other children at school, there are some things a parent can't avoid. It doesn't make OP a bad parent. All that parents can do is teach their kid right from wrong, but after a certain age the child is going to choose whether or not to apply it.

well 42, kids can't be raised the same way

I wonder how old the daughter is? If she is a teenager then the OP has problems, otherwise it could just be a case of small children not understanding the nature of their behaviour.

that's stupid. a kid would be worse because she's not having periods and hormonal changes. a teenager would be going through puberty and/or rebellion. if you think that a child would be better flashing herself then a teen, the YOU have problems.

59, I had to read this a few times because your sentence structure is horrifying. If OP's kid is young and has yet to go through puberty, I doubt the kid viewed flashing someone as sexual. She probably thought it was cute and funny. If she's a teenager, then you'll have a bigger problem. But until OP possibly reveals the kids age, we can go 50/50 on age guessing.

59-- young children don't usually connect nakedness with shame or embarrassment, as anyone who has spent any time around young children can tell you, therefore it would much less disturbing if OP's daughter were in preschool or kindergarten. I taught preschool for four years and often had to explain to little girls why it was ok for boys to take off their shirts but not girls (which is a really tough concept for four year olds to grasp). An act like this for a middle or high school aged girl is much more deliberate and worrisome. That being said, as most educators can tell you, overt or aggressive sexual acts in young children could be indicators of sexual abuse (I'm not saying this is the case, but as a teacher it is something I've been trained to watch for). No matter how old the daughter is, though, OP needs to have a frank and honest discussion with her.

If you think about the concept itself, it's somewhat absurd. Think of how we define the legality of a women dressing appropriately in public. Her nipples must be covered. Aesthetically, the one part of her chest that is identical to that of a male. Really, it's only because of years of being taught what is "modest" and "ladylike." I'm not saying the child is right, as it is inappropriate in today's society, merely remarking as to why it may be a difficult concept for a child to grasp.

I understand perfectly. Your daughter is a hoe.

Reminds me of the time I mooned the entire class as a little kid. Anyway, I'm wondering how old she is. If she is a young child, it's not that bad. But if she's a teenager, that makes it worse.

I wonder what the future has in store for us.

Think this'll need a follow up, I'm not sure what my opinion is. Well, except for maybe "WTAF" but other than that...

Have had the exact same issue with my princess. You manage to understand it all and I'd love it if you can enlighten me... kids nowadays... I have tried raising them right but they're really making me wonder sometimes.
