What kind of protest? #CatLivesMatter or #MeowToo?
I have a cat, and when I came back from a psychiatric hospital due to an OD on painkillers (my back has been permanently injured with nerve damage between discs), my cat was mad at me. He’s a daddy’s boy so to speak as he runs when anyone he doesn’t know comes in the house, but has bonded so much with me he gets separation anxiety. My wife reminds me that I had to apologize to him because when I got out, he wouldn’t go near me until I told him I’m sorry and gave him some kitty treats. He’s not a destructive cat, but I’ve known that in the absence of a preferred person, cats will get stressed out. Dogs are the same way, had two cocker spaniels that destroyed stuff if we left and they weren’t baby-gated into the kitchen. Next time you need to leave, try putting a blanket or old pillow with your scent for them. It helps them feel re-assured. Since animals have no concept of time, they can freak out when extended uncertainty hits them.
