Today, my fiancé told me that he was having second thoughts on our engagement. Instead of just calling it off, he took me to a fancy restaurant and took a public poll on whether we should get married. The majority said no. FML

What a douche bag. Good thing he called off te marriage, it would be pretty shitty for OP to deal with him for however long.

Why would you marry someone who asks random people who don't know you from Adam, if you should get married?? Good thing you/he/she called it off.

He wanted a second opinion on his second thoughts.

It's okay OP, maybe this is a sign. :)

Sounds like something someone going through a midlife crisis would do.

If I was in the crowd, I would've said no too, to spare her from marrying such an idiot

He was showing his dedicated beliefs in democracy, I don't understand how that is inconsiderate

^ correct spelling or not, the comment still sucks

Actually, this is wonderful. No sarcasm I mean it. I mean she was just about to marry that guy, who from that little gesture displayed an inability to make and stick through tough life decisions, a sick apathy towards the emotions of others and alarming streak of selfishness. You really dogged a bullet OP.

Your comment : ..Wonder why he proposed then?

If I was there, I would summon 24 more people using my level 4 arcane powers and voted yes so you can live alongside one of the great conquistadors of this land.

3- How do you know it was the man that proposed in the first place? It could've been OP.

A fiancé is a man and a fiancée is a female. Get it right.

FiestaInMyPants 8

90 is right. It is a leap year, after all! But I think it's safe to assume he proposed to her.

There is no such thing as luck since we are just an illusion of the condensation's theorem of eternal might.

TriflingAllDay 6

There was luck in this actually. It was very unlucky for that choice in crowd.

Don't worry about what other people think! What really matters is how you and your fiancé feel. Hope everything works out!! :)

solosohigh 15

obviously he doesn't feel that positively about it.

I likely would've been part of the majority no since any guy who takes a poll in a restaurant about getting married clearly is not mature enough to get married

Why are people thumbing this down? Well said.

ImmaB3AST 7

Well, I'm going to assume that if the fiancé was that unsure about a marriage to where they go to a restaurant to prove that the marriage isn't right, then they clearly aren't going to work out.

I'm going to say that I don't think they are going to work it out, considering OP's name is exfiancee...

Really, you think? What gave you the hint? The fact he asked a bunch of people he doesn't know, or the fact she said he was having second thoughts?

In what sort of fancy restaurant does one walk around polling about whether they should get married?

Hiimhaileypotter 52

Aww, that's terrible :( I'm really sorry.

Maybe the majority said no because the boyfriend is an ass and they thought she deserved better than him. He sounds very shallow.

Could be worse. Could have been McDonalds.

Or Big Momma's house, who knows.

Hey! We 'mericans find that offensive!

ninjaqueen101 18

Well that's depressing. Just keep your head up

That's terrible :( I hope your fiancé changes his mind.

I hope he doesn't change his mind. If he was so willing to act like a dick and do that, then you deserve much better

momolee 4

If he does change his mind, I'd recommend not taking him back.

BeRealB 4

Well that should be your deciding factor in leaving him

Exactly what I was going to say! Who could do something like that!
