I am really sorry this has happened to you. Have you showed them your paper with the teacher's comment? Are your parents always like this? If yes, I am sorry but your parents seem a bit toxic... Also you may want to show your paper to the dean? This type of comment from the teacher is childish and it seems like he/she is on a power-trip or something. " I don't need to read it" Yes, yes he/she does, it his/her f#cking job. Ask another teacher's opinion on your paper. Good luck to you.
Agreed moreso on the teacher aspect. How in the **** can the teacher give you a ZERO without reading it? That’s serious BS and absolutely needs to be fought. Regarding the parents - yeah disowning is a bit overboard and honestly likely hyperbole. I imagine OP has a history of not applying himself and the parents are trying to make him try harder - although their approach is a little over the top. Maybe he has this reputation with the teacher too, but again, the teacher essentially “giving up” on the student is ****** up. OP - show both your parents and your teacher that you are working HARD to turn things around. And **** that teacher. Teach that asshole s/he is wrong about you. And make them read your ******* paper. That BS needs to be reported. Again - **** that teacher for not doing their ******* job. Thank you for reading my 3-paragraph essay :)

That's a case of prejudice. If the teacher failed you without reading the paper, file a complaint. And for your family, they are too harsh. You can try to explain to them what happened and how biased your teacher is, but they probably won't listen to reason.
A lot of academic success is based on your relationship with the instructor. This applies double for anything where your grade is based on something abstract like writing.
First I will echo others who say that for your teacher to grade a paper without reading it means they are not doing their job and should be reported to their supervisor (dean, department head, or principal). This should not go uncontested. But be aware they will probably still find a way to fail you... Secondly I sadly learned in college that if it’s an English composition or writing course - The truth of it is that they will mostly count off for spelling, punctuation, and grammar errors. Content and originality is second. To pass, keep the sentences simple and keep to words you can use and spell properly. You won’t get an “A” from this but you won’t fail either. Being an engineering major I was used to content being most important. And being a reader of fiction I was used to originality and style being very important. But that’s not the way papers are graded outside STEM classes and a few creative writing classes. The more passionate you get about what you are writing, the more likely you are to make basic errors in spelling, punctuation, and grammar as your brain gets sidetracked by the ideas you are trying to communicate. Finally, It’s unlikely that your parents are going to cease to consider you their offspring over one more bad grade. But them saying that means there has been a pattern of poor performance and they expect you to start to show improvement - So do your best.
sure....
You don’t get a zero for any paper, if you actually wrote one. (Maybe an F, but not a zero) Old parent comment.
You do not get a zero on a written paper unless it was plagiarism. No actual parent would believe this. You might’ve got an F for a terrible paper but not a zero.
