Today, I had gum surgery. I can't laugh. I can't smile. I can't talk. I can't eat. All I can do is wait for the pain medication to kick in. FML

Be careful with the narcotics - they often don't even put a dentin the pain, and they can make you feel like a wild enamel. Ibuprofen gets to the root of the problem and will take a huge bite out of your pain, and mixing it with acetaminophen will help even more. Listen tooth the periodontist's advice, though, and chews your medicine wisely. Good luck.

This reminds me of when I got my wisdom teeth out :( it hurts to do anything the first day. Though I'm sure gum surgery is way worse than getting your wisdom teeth pulled! Good luck

Getting your wisdom teeth out is gum surgery =D they still have to cut into the gums to remove the teeth. Your pain was probably just as bad

While "gum surgery" is a little vague, I had a gum graft done a few years ago and it is supposedly nothing like getting your wisdom teeth out. I need to get my wisdom teeth out and all the doctors I've seen have been in agreement that getting my impacted wisdom teeth out will be significantly easier than my gum surgery was: I couldn't even brush my teeth let alone try to eat properly for at least two months after my surgery. I was in agonizing pain even with meds and icepacks and couldn't even talk for nearly two weeks afterwards either.

Some people hit YDI instead of FYL when voting on accident, like I have a couple times. :p Then there are those who are stuck in the mindset of a 10 year old and think its fun to be a dick. :)

Well actually OP DOES deserve it for not brushing or flossing. That's how one ends up needing gum surgery. Do you know how much bacteria is left behind after meals and not brushing?
