By whyme - This FML is from back in 2012 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, my mother screamed and swore at me because I said I was looking to move out soon. Apparently, the idea of me moving out at 27 and her getting a job to pay her own way is devastating. FML

Even more reason to move out, make her lazy ass pay her own way.

You are so selfish. Wanting to set out on your own and start your own independent life leaving your mother to work for herself. Lol jk your moms a mooch!!!

I just went through the same situation. Moving out was a great thing. More space and nothing tk worry about. It's called tough love I had to do it also. I've been paying moma rent for 7yrs it is time for me to do my own and I'm only 23

And this was entirely a one way deal, right? Your Mom sounds a bit clingy and you may be contributing to the household, but she had a life and made it on her own before you began helping out, if that is indeed the case. The usual reason children stay with their parents far too long is because they themselves are too lazy to give up the sweet deal and make it on their own. From 18 to 27 you brought home the bacon? I kind of doubt that. What stopped you before? Did mom have you chained up in the attic for the past decade? Takers usually see things just like you described.

My mom is the same... I'm married 25 and have 3 kids

U could be a little helpful and say that you'll send some cash every week or so. After all they paid for our ass until we actually started earning!

That depends on your definiton of 'paid for our asses' (you had the tense of 'ass' incorrect but we get your drift). As someone else said, when a woman chooses to open her legs without using birth control (and by extention, a man puts his dick in and ejaculates without B.C.) they are tacitly agreeing that they might make a baby with this act and thus take responsibility for its care and feeding. The child should not feel obligated to subsidize the parent later in life as gratitude that they chose not to abort. The goal of parenting should be to raise a child who becomes an independent adult who contributes to society, not to create a being who will be obligated to subsidize you so you can stop supporting yourself. People should not feel that they 'owe' their parents for feeding them when they were two years old. That is part of the implied parent-child arrangement that the parents agreed to when they ****** without using anything.

OP is 27, I think it's pretty safe to say they've already put it off for a few years...
