Today, I took my mom out to a fancy restaurant, and spent close to $300 on her Mother's Day present. Later, my little brother drew her a card with crayons on pink construction paper. She cried. He's 20 years-old. FML

just goes to show money doesn't buy happiness

At least your Mom cares for the sentimental things. Mine bitched at me for not getting her anything. I'm 1,000 miles away and unemployeed. Called her several times throughout the day to at least wish her a Happy Mother's Day. She never picked up. She only called back to bitch at me.

=/ Sucks that she doesn't appreciate gifts from her children equally. I guess now you know better than to spend lots of money on your mother. Maybe she'll learn to be more appreciative of the things you work very hard to give to her, and if she doesn't, well, I guess you save yourself some money.

#57 A gift card is a real gift. I'd much rather recieve, say.... a walmart card than some shitty gift I'll never use. I am thinking about a person when I get them a card. I know they love the store where I get the card from and that they will find something nice. To me a thoughtless gift is a piece of junk you spent five minutes picking out because OMG..... you wanted them something to open. And I'm going to assume the son is slooooooow.

maybe if you rub the cost of your gift in her face, she'll appreciate it more maybe she cried because she felt bad for her 20 year old little 'man'

I wonder if your bro happen to be mentally handicapped? I mean if he is, then that would explain why your mother might have cried. Also, it might have been a pretty good gift. Was it drawn well? If so, perhaps she just like that sort of stuff.

maybe she was crying because her son got her a lame present...

They might NOT have been tears of joy... It could have been despair at what an idiot jerk your brother was compared to you...

AHAHAHHAHA I love your brother. Maybe you deserve it for being such a snob and thinking she would like your crystal vase than something more personal.Robot.

Some of you guys are soo shallow...=/ Moms (usually) don't care about how much you spend on them, they care about the effort you put into the gift. My mom wouldn't care if I dug something out of the garbage can for her, she'd just be happy that i'm "showing my love" or whatever. Maybe the brother doesn't have a alot of money to spare? Lol, maybe he's a generally bad son and she's just glad she at least got a card...

hahahahah!! I think everyone is being too mean to you!! your brother is cheap...i know money isnt everything but a shity hand made card by a 20 year old is rediculous!!! if i were you i would have smacked him upside the head!! i feel bad for you...you dont deserve that. you obviously care alot about your mother to do that much for her...

I think a lot of people are missing the point. It's not that "money doesn't buy happiness" it's that he's freaking TWENTY years old! what a looser!
