Today, I had a conference with my dad, my counselor, and my history and English teachers because my dad was "concerned" about my grades in those two classes. We talked for a while and it was going well, then my counselor asked what I wanted to study in college. I said I wanted to be a teacher. He laughed. FML

Today, I was talking to one of my supervisors at my new job. He asked if I knew a professor at the school I recently graduated from, and I decided to babble on about how shitty of a professor he was and how much I loathed his class. He then looked at me and said, "That's my dad." FML

Today, I went to visit my dad for the first time in over a year, as I have been studying for my Master's degree in history halfway across the world. The first thing he said to me? "So, gotten a real job yet?" FML

Today, I overheard my dad telling his work buddy that he's disappointed in his kid. I assumed he meant my brother, for flunking out of school. He meant me, for quitting sports to focus on my studies. FML

Today, I went to see the school counselor to schedule my classes for school. She asked me if I knew how to speak English. My parents are Chinese and I don't even know how to speak Chinese. I've lived in America my whole life. Plus, I even spoke to her in English to ask about classes. FML

Today, I was sitting in my room when my dad walked in to talk. He said I'm not the son he'd hoped for, and that he'd been let down as a father. He said I should change the way I am so that he could love me more. It was the longest conversation I've had with my dad in years. FML

That's when you respond saying that "Those who do, do; those who can't, teach." if you're not a good enough student to make something of yourself, well the best you can settle for is teaching others who will hopefully make something of themselves. Explain this to them, especially the teachers you're with, and let me know how it goes.

High school guidance counselors! Ugh! I remember mine, Mr. Wetzel, what a loser! I imagine that when I see a Wetzel's Pretzels at the mall that somehow this guy changed careers and hit the big time.

maybe he wasn't making fun of the fact that you couldn't be one bit rather that you wanted to be one since most teenagers don't like school and don't even think about working as a teacher.
