Oops. He was just a bit off target there.
He took, "right in the kisser" the wrong way.
Its okay. You can train him or teach him
Hey he'll get it eventually ???
I cringed reading this lol I'm sorry you had to go through that
You can always teach him new things. ;)
Luckily that will fade away
Take the bull by the horns and teach him to do it the right way! Don't be mean, of course, but use your hands on his head or gentle verbal encouragement to guide him toward kissing properly. My husband was the worst kisser EVER when we met, but within a month I had him kissing me the way I wanted. Eight years and a lot of practice later, he can now lay a kiss on me that makes my toes curl. Don't give up!

Teach him. People stay awful at things because others don't show them how to improve.
Aww chin up, it can only get better.
