I'm an MA and do ear lavages/ irrigate ear canals all the time and trust me I've seen some really bad ones and my coworkers and I have talked about it. Most of us don't judge the patient based on what comes out of them because they have no control over it.

You shouldn't use Qtips in your ear. Doctors say so and even Qtips come with a warning to not use in your ear. There are proper ways to clean out your ears that are damage free.

Speaking as someone who has worked in medicine for several years I have lots of friends who are nurses, doctors, PAs, etc...many of them met their significant others similar to your situation...my best friend met her boyfriend when he came in to have an ingrown toenail removed. He asked her out while he was looped out on pain meds. They've been together for 8 months :)
