Today, while on the highway, a guy in a truck sped up to pass me. He was hauling a trailer, which hit me and ran me off the road. I called the cops and followed him all the way into town, where the cops pulled him over. They let him go without even a ticket, because, "He didn't know he hit you." FML

Sadly it doesn't always work like that. OP will most likely be able to get it covered under insurance but he may have to fight for it. Also depending on where he lives his monthly payments may go up after the claim even though he wasn't at fault. It sucks but that's just how it goes sometimes.

This seems fishy, I want to know what the other driver said to the cop to get away. Maybe next time I run a red light I'll just tell the cop, "I didn't know it was red." See how my luck turns out with this.

I agree, I feel like there's more to this story. Someone also made the comment that they can't arrest someone if they didn't witness it or there were no witnesses, so maybe there were no witness around, and there were no marks on his car, therefore no evidence?

You have obviously never driven with a trailer. If something bumps into your trailer and the trailer is fairly heavy you won't notice it, I feel it's safe to assume we aren't talking about a little 4x8 trailer. The majority of cops will understand this and won't view it as hit and run.

I'm so glad my left nut could air such scandal within the ranks of FML. we should take our love triangle on Jerry and get that daytime tv money. also I chose the left because I have no right nut due to a violent scuffle involving grace and a disagreement on what brand of lube to use.

It doesn't matter if he was clueless about hitting you. The fact that he hit you is considered reckless driving. Report the matter to someone and be sure you get a different cop to look into this, you go steamrolled by a corrupt cop.

Lol reminds me of that time I got pulled over by that cop for speeding.. I was speeding cause his bumper was practically on mine I couldn't slow down and I just got my car out the shop... But because my job he let me go.
