well, now you know
fail
Swelling after being stung isn't allergic. It's normal. Anaphylaxis is an allergic reaction to a bee sting. If you were allergic, and you didn't get a shot of epinephrine, you'd be dead now. Instead, you reacted normally, and you're just an idiot.
Actually anaphylaxis isn't always deadly. Anaphylaxis is the severe swelling, anaphylactic shock is when your airways close up, which can be very deadly. I get anaphylaxis, but not the shock version, so I carry epipens in case I get stung in the neck or mouth, but don't have to use them if I get stung in, say, the arm. I am allergic, but I'm unlikely to die from a sting. Still most people are going to swell a bit, and especially if you work with bees without gloves (and are apparently so inexperienced you failed to check you had the right kit...). This guy totally deserves it.
you'd think they'd have a checklist... suit- check, gloves-check, etc...
They do have a checklist, but the Assistant (the OP) goes through it for the Head Beekeeper. The Assistant obviously needs an Deputy Assistant who stands at a safe distance and shouts critical instructions like "Put your gloves on!", "Remember to breathe!" and "No, don't eat them!".
Surely if it was your first day, they would have made sure you were wearing gloves?
How are you typing if your hands are that swollen? Perhaps you should remember the gloves next time... or get a different job.
So... How did you type this post again ?

So you forgot to put on gloves before playing with bees, common mistake
Get well soon!
