Big baby

Today, I discovered that my 100-pound Rottweiler is absolutely terrified of (drumroll please) orange peels. Yup. A byproduct of my lunch will turn this hulking monolith with teeth into a whimpering puddle of pee. FML

Lots of dogs dislike citrus from what I've heard. So maybe he was reacting to the smell?

my malamute is terrified of feathers! those that don't know mallys the are snow dogs that look like wolf's

I have a friend whose black lab is terrified of a blue lid to a plastic bin for no reason. He'll run away and won't even go near it. Dogs are weird sometimes.

There are weird eccentricities of animal behavior that it just drives me nuts we will never get the chance to fully figure out. I'd fork over a reasonable sum of money just for the ability to ask this dog what's going through its head.

As sad as that is for you and your dog, my mental image of this happening is pretty adorable.

Dogs can get incredibly sick from the oils inside orange peels

My rottie is the same way. You will get used to his quirks.

It's the citronella oil in the peel, cats, dogs, and Mosquitos all hate it. It's in lime, lemon, orange, etc. I'd put then near your plants in the garden instead. Or put them in a garbage disposal with some ice for a quick smoothie -- I mean, for a clean fresh smelling sink! Freeze and stuff in chickens. Use the oil to scrub greasy messes. Make candied peels. Lots of tips out there to reuse the peel, but keep away from the dog,

My 60 pound lab is scared of plastic and trash bags so I feel your pain.

My 70 lb husky lab mix hates leaves.
