carelessness? Who opens contact lens above a drain.. You open small droppable things on a table and then take them.
I admittedly open my contacts above the drain. But I have biweekly contacts that need to get replaced constantly anyway and I keep the old pair on hand in case I lose one, so even if I did lose one down the drain (which to date I have not), I could just grab a spare, problem solved. Doing it with contacts that are meant to last is a dumb decision.
What's wrong with glasses? At least those can't fall down (most) drains.
