Today, I met my girlfriend's very religious parents for dinner. Somehow we got to talking about her groin hernias that were repaired as a baby. I never knew she had hernias repaired and said, "But she doesn't have any scars down there." There was a long awkward silence. FML

awesome.... as much as this really is a YDI, i can totally see how someone could make that mistake... i mean... you were having an in depth conversation about her groin... You were kind of set up to fail....

Who the **** talks about that during dinner? I hope they didn't hate you. :) He didn't really deserve it, things just slip out sometimes. Don't be harsh. I mean, we got a good laugh(:

yes, excellent dinner conversation 'hey, did you know our daughter had a groin hernia when she was a kid?' what KIND of religion are they so RELIGIOUS about anyways? PHALLICISM? you should have brought up the subject of castration or something, they'd enjoy that... freaks O.o

Agreed with #49. Still - as far as I recognise - that ain't subject for a dinner talk. They've got to be as dumb as your response was... Or maybe they're evil masterminds, and wanted to know wheter or not you **** their daughter. Either ways - You, and these comments, made my day, which was very shitty by now - thank you all.

Douchetard, I think that would have been a perfectly acceptable reply considering the family chooses to discuss groin hernias at the dinner table. If her weird ass family is bringing up nauseating conversations like that, your comment was totally acceptable! No, I'm not being sarcastic. Well done.

Similar thing happened to me with my bf's family. Lucky for me they laughed it off as I died of embarrassment. Poor guy.
