Damn in-laws, or maybe in this case out-laws.
No damn mothers smh
Marry without anyone, just the two of you.
no cuz you see how they feel so why would you want them to be your family if they would start a riot at YOUR wedding over the fact that the preist didnt give them a chance to object
88 think before you speak, the priest FORGOT to SKIP the part and ops MOTHER started a rant. FYL for being stupid!
Why not? You don't need to let foolish families ruin your relationship. Go away and get married somewhere exotic, alone. :D
This.
That.
*you
This FML gets worse and worse as you read on. I feel so bad for you OP! I suggest having another wedding without them?
Agree! I eloped for this very reason 23 years ago. Still have a screwed up relationship with my parents over their bloody attitude about the love of my life... If all else fails, cut them out for a while. Hopefully then they may see some sense.
My step dad's mom bullied my mom into getting married at their cabin on a lake. My mom wanted to get married at Disneyland, but my step dad's mom called her up and said, "you can't elope." It's not eloping if you know about it.
I hear eloping to Vegas can be nice this time of year
This is exactly why some people have to elope. I'm sorry OP!
Sometimes it's just better to have a wedding without the family, and have a party after that with the family.
If you needed to prompt the minister to skip that part, you probably knew that your mom did not approve. You should have just gotten it done at City Hall. Your mom may have ruined your life or saved your life. We don't know enough to say which is the case.
She could have gone to city hall, or just not invite her mother.
The minister usually always says the "does any one object?" part. He forgot that they asked him not to. How else would he know he wasn't supposed too?
I don't know about most people but they never said that at my wedding and I didn't ask them not too. It's very old fashioned to ask if anyone objects in my opinion and I think it's rude. If someone really thinks you shouldn't get married they should bring it up before the special day! This FML frustrates me cause if everyone was yelling and it was total pandemonium I would just say forget this I hate you all throw down my bouquet and run off! Poor OP :(
Who called the cement truck?!
What?
^I second that
Maybe he was insinuating the OP's mother needs a pair of cement shoes??
