By dimtsis - This FML is from back in 2010 but it's good stuff - Australia

Today, I had to go to counselling as my mother thinks I have an eating disorder. All because I didn't want to eat the crap supermarket lasagna she bought for $2. FML

suck it up and eat it or buy ur own food

If your mom bought the lasagna to save money, paying for counselling due to a single event like passing up dinner is a bit of a stretch. Unless your mom has completely lost it, there must've been something going on sometime before for her to come to the conclusion that you have an eating disorder.

Don't indulge her stupidity.

Your life is ****** if your mom is THAT neurotic. The session cost more than the cause.

Dude, those 2$ Lasange's are LUSH... YDI.

you should have called 911 to report her to psychiatric ward for her to think that

wow, she automatically assumed you had an eating disorder because you didn't have one meal? sure, she might think it's weird, but it's awfully odd that she spent money on a counsellor just or that. when I was 12 I went to a counsellor because I actually DID have an eating disorder, but it was after constant symptoms that my parents decided to send me to one. next time, just eat SOMETHING, no matter what it is.

Okay, So I wasn't too impressed with the lasagna, but do I really need counselling for not wanting to eat one meal?

I doubt she really thought you needed counseling. Sounds more like a power play to me...eat what I make or I'll embarrass you.

I'm sorry, OP. Parents really do let themselves get carried away with everything they hear in the media. They need to understand that not every kid will become an anorexic, rebellious cutter. Often times, they only see the negative in what you will become - it's hard to make them understand that most of us are genuinely good kids.

152, that's a little disrespectful. I've experienced anorexia and self-injury, but that doesn't make me a bad kid. Mental illnesses are as much of a choice as a physical illness. They really have nothing to do with rebellion. I've known many anorexics and self-injurers who were extremely sweet and kind, and like you said, "genuinely good kids". I hope I didn't come off as insolent. I just wanted you to understand.
