You sound as much of a jerk as he is. It would have cost him nothing to tell her that things were not going to work out, and to end the date. She would still have been sad, but she wouldn't have had to sit there like a fool waiting for him to come back. Don't worry, what goes around, comes around. He'll get his. And if you've ever done something so cruel, so will you.
