It sounds like it's on the conductor, OP. Not you. Either the conductor misspoke, and wanted you to *play* the last four bars three times, instead of *repeating* it three times, or you're the only one in the ensemble that followed the conductors instructions properly. Either way, it's not really your fault. Don't beat yourself up too much. :)
What is the probability - Out of the whole band only you understood the conductor and counted properly or you miscounted or misunderstood the conductor? While it’s theoretically possible everyone else made a mistake, it’s a lot more likely the one person who played on made the mistake. OP, I understand - Sometimes despite our best efforts we make a mistake. And we’d rather not think it was our mistake but someone else’s. “Shit happens” sometimes things get screwed up, but life goes on. Learn from this to be more sure you understand the instructions you are given and watch the others around you and take some cues from them when in doubt. You will survive this incident and it will eventually be a funny story you tell…
